Our new online pharmacy is a great option to have hundreds of prescription and non-prescription veterinary items conveniently shipped directly to your house with the same safety and quality guarantees we offer in-house! We hope that you find this new feature helpful in keeping your furry family members as healthy and happy as possible.

How-to’s of using our online pharmacy

On our website (where you’re at now), click “Online Pharmacy” and choose “Go to Online Pharmacy” in the top right corner of your screen. This will take you directly to our online pharmacy website.
Our online pharmacy search bar (at the top of the screen) will allow you to search for the name of an item, a category of item, or keywords relating to the item. You can also hover over the “dog,” “cat,” “food,” and “deals” tabs (beneath the search bar) to view subcategories such as nutrition supplements, dental items, medical supplies, heartworm, and more! You will be able to choose size, dosage, and quantity (as applicable) after clicking on an individual item. If you have questions about the name of an item you have gotten from us before you can always call our office at 248-476-0570, otherwise you can click on “need help?” (in the top right corner) and a pharmacy staff member will be able to further assist you.
On the pharmacy website, add items to your cart by searching for the item name or category in the search bar at the top of the screen. When you’ve found an item you’re looking to purchase or find out more about, click on it. Then you can select from any dosage, size, or quantity options and click “add to cart.” Then you can click on the shopping cart in the top right corner of the screen, sign in or sign up, enter your billing and mailing address information, and your request will be sent to us immediately and a confirmation email will be sent to you! If a veterinarian has previously approved a prescription product on our end, your order will be processed right away. If your veterinarian has not approved your request from our end prior to submitting your order, the request will be sent directly to our team for approval. Turnaround times for online pharmacy requests are generally 12-48 business hours. Upon approval, your order will ship and you will receive a confirmation email, and if there are any issues we will reach out to you via email or phone. At any time you can click on “need help?” (in the top right corner) and a pharmacy staff member will be able to further assist you.
There are 2 options for obtaining prescription items through our online pharmacy: initiation on our end, and initiation on your end. After approval by our veterinarians, items will arrive on your doorstep within 2-5 days. Auto-shipping can be set up for any item, can be canceled easily anytime, and most items set for auto-ship receive a 5% discount each time they ship.
Option #1: Our veterinarians can approve items and enter your contact details (i.e. email, mailing address) on our end, which will push an email to you so you can place your order online through the online pharmacy.
Option #2: You can add items to your cart and check out, after which we will receive a notification about an item not yet approved, and our veterinarians will review your request and either approve it (automatically sending it to your house), decline it (the reason for decline would be sent to you via email), or a staff member will give you a call and let you know what needs to be done (e.g. bloodwork, exam, etc.) in order for us to approve the request. Generally, you can expect your online pharmacy request through our online pharmacy to be reviewed by a veterinarian within 12-48 business hours. Please be patient with us at first and make your request early, as our team is still learning the details of this new feature!

Yes! Many items (especially heartworm and flea/tick prevention medications such as Heartgard, Nexgard, etc.) have manufacturer rebates that are only obtainable if you purchase the items through your veterinarian. This means that orders placed through Chewy.com or 1-800-PetMeds, for example, are not eligible for these rebates–some of which are up to $60! On our online pharmacy, most of these rebates are instant, so you don’t need to wait for a rebate card to come in the mail! We also have an auto-ship discount of 5% off most auto-shipped items, as well as many rotating manufacturer discounts that are exclusive to local veterinarians’ online pharmacies like ours. You can also take advantage of and submit for some manufacturer discounts, such as Zoetis Rewards (Apoquel, Cytopoint, etc.), by clicking on links to the rewards sites directly from applicable items on our online pharmacy.

Cost, pricing of online pharmacy

Our online pharmacy pricing is generally comparable to other retailers such as Chewy.com or 1-800-PetMeds (pricing is usually within 5-10%, if not the same). In addition to the base cost of items being similar or the same, you can also take advantage of exclusive manufacturer rebates (such as for Heartgard and Nexgard) that are only applicable to purchases directly from your veterinarian–including through our online pharmacy–that are not able to be used on other online retailer sites. Plus, all purchases through our online pharmacy directly support our veterinarians and staff, whereas other online retailer orders do not and take staff time away from other patient care tasks.
Generally, items offered through our online pharmacy are about the same or a bit less expensive than in-clinic due to direct sourcing from the manufacturer. There are also tons of rebates and discounts available through our online pharmacy that we are not able to offer in-house, which brings cost down for our clients.
For non-prescription diet items: shipping is FREE over $49, and is generally $6.95 for non-prescription diet orders totaling less than $49. Due to high cost of shipping heavy food items, prescription food items ship free over $49 with autoship turned on (can be turned off or adjusted anytime). There are also express shipping options that you can choose from, or that may be applicable for items that require special shipping (e.g. must be refrigerated, etc.). Prescription items are ONLY charged to your card once they have been approved by our veterinarians. If a request is declined or a staff member reaches out with additional steps needed before a request can be approved (e.g. needs, exam, bloodwork, heartworm test, etc.) your card will not be charged until (if) the items are approved.
